About us

In 2019, ELTE launched the Window on Korea (WOK) project as part of the National Library of Korea's (NLK) international partner programme. The Window on Korea Special Collection has been installed in one of the rooms of the Korean Studies Department. The NLK funded the furnishing and equipment of the room as well. So far, the project has provided 3125 documents on Korean studies, up-to-date Korean and English literature, primary sources, manuals and textbooks. This has quadrupled the total holdings of the Institute of East Asian Studies Library's Korean collection. The Special Collection's holdings have been processed with the help of Korean students, and the bibliographic descriptions include the documents' data in the original writing system (in Hangul). All documents are currently searchable in the ELTE online catalogue.
